Dana Kandalaft is a Canadian-Syrian born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. As a young girl, she frequently travelled to Syria with her family – the place where her mother and father grew up. Holding a degree from York University in environmental studies, Dana has always had a passion for humanistic causes. Previous to travelling to the Olive Tree Refugee Camp, she participated in a six-month internship with Fashion Takes Action, an organization that also harnesses fashion to help others. Inspired by the fair trade market and the young girls at the Olive Tree Refugee Camp, Dana decided to start Tight Knit Syria. Her initiatives with TKS aim to provide long-term income opportunities for Syrian women. To find out more about Dana and her story visit Tight Knit Syria for more information.
